We had to move the combined washer/ dryer unit to repair a water leak, and while my husband was outside turning the water back on, a VERY LOUD metallic "KLONG" (Think of the sound when you accidentally stub your toe very hard on the washer.) sounded from the unit causing me to jump a foot and land on the poor cat who was investigating the nearby water puddle. Now the dryer runs but does not heat. Was that perhaps the heating element plummeting to it's death that I heard? Mayhaps the house elf inside had a heart attack and fell? Any ideas, suggestions and diagrams of how to rip this beast apart and replace the element would be much appreciated.

Further to my above post, it seems that the timing knob might not be working properly. Again any ideas on what might cause the dial to not count down and sound the buzzer would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Loud sound came from appliance and was not the sharp pop of a circuit breaker tripping, but I rechecked and circuit breakers appear fine. Thanks RegUS: I know now that the timer dial shouldn't be broken as well. I'm thinking it HAS to be heating element. Now I just need to find a new element and a schematic for replacing it.

Part link for your heating element... http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-GLET1031CSO-%3d%3di1553336&PartID=1553336 It's plug n chug but Reg may be able to hook you up with a schematic.

Domo Arigato. I forgot my manners and my password and have only just now returned to thank you for the info. BTW.... these things are constructed like a Hellraiser cube jigsaw puzzle. Two to three strong people are required to hold all the various parts in place.
