I have a Maytag Neptune model MAH5500B, this morning while washing a cover we heard a loud rumble, bang, crash. My wife and i ran downstairs to see the washer had moved about a foot and a half and it was in the final spin. We held it in place until everything shut down. When we opened the front door we found two parts of the shroud, about 1/3 of the total, had broken off and they also ripped into both sides of the bottom of the inner door. The drum spins fine, no unusual sounds, and it also has back and forth movement with no resistance. So I don't know what caused the drum to hit the inner door, the cover was not caught between the shroud and door. So now the question. We are fairly handy, is the replacement of the shroud and inner door something we can do? Any helpful tips or tricks on the repair? I have attached two pictures to assist in my description. http://s386.photobucket.com/albums/oo304/tudupas/Maytag%20washer/ tom

Not a bad job, remove the screws holding the dispenser cover to the top of the machine and the cover. Remove the door from the machine and the screws on the other side of the door opening where the hinges would be if the door was reversed. Remove item # 15 Unplug the door latch wires, remove the screws and remove the door latch. Raise the top Remove the door boot clamp from the shroud and remove the shroud. Now's your chance to give the boot a good cleaning before you put it all back together.
