No - no error codes and detergent goes thru perfectly. thanks so my for trying to help me. brings tears to my eyes - seems no one tries to help each other any longer

Remove the entire housing and rinse and clean as best you can. These things work mostly on a siphon-type system. The part you need to clean the most is #23 on Reg's diagram. From now on, dilute your fabric softener whenever you use it.
