oh great guru, my 2 year old WCVH6800 GE front load washer will not go into the high speed spin cycle. it will lock the door, flop the clothes over at low speed, unlock it for a short period of time, then relock the door and repeat the process again. i cannot seem to enter diagnostic mode. after reading through the forum, i felt this might indicate a bad water level pressure switch. upon testing with a continuity tester using the diagnostics i found online, the switch appears to be functioning properly and in the "washer empty" configuration. it also now seems the water pump wants to remain on as long as the washer is plugged in, but it was not doing this when the problem first started. i am in search of your enlightenment, and my wife would greatly appreciate the ability to once again use our handy basement appliance, as we are about 2 miles from the river and her laundry basket does not have wheels! thank you in advance!

the constant drain pump operation is a symptom of a failed inverter (motor control)...had this exact issue last week...ge techline seemed sure this was the problem, offered no test procedure or reason, but i'll be damned if that wasn't what it was. new inverter board corrected the problem. not a cheap part, $250 if memory serves... item 1475761 at repairclinic $224 and in stock Last edited on Sun Aug 29th, 2010 12:35 am by KurtiusInterupptus ____________________ As every cockroach knows , thriving on poisons is the secret of success. |

would that be related to the original no high speed spin problem in your opinion? or are they two independent issues? o.O i just plugged the washer back in. the pump started running, but when i pushed the start button the door locked and the pump stopped. ordered and replaced inverter board. upon installation still having same problem. when in high speed spin, door will lock then drum will rotate slowly side to side, stop. pump will run. it does eventually shut off when the cycle finishes. Last edited on Sat Sep 25th, 2010 11:44 pm by scrawl |

Maybe you did this already but check the wiring to the control board. Some of that wiring is tiny and one small crimp or cut can cause problems. Its not always an obvious break in the wire.
