Ok, I hope you can help as my buddy [good with appliances etc] and myself [marginal on a good day] cannot figure out what part is in need of replacing. Approx 10 years old, served us well overall... Orignially figured a belt, got new one, installed and deserved it, but didn't fix problem. Took most of washer apart checking for blockages etc.... none found and even blew air from pressure switch back into tub just incase it mattered. checked circuit board after seeing so many articles on blown resistors and what part caused it.... all resistors appear fine and showed resistance. washer runs seemingly fine, no noises etc.... thus figured with clear lines, working pump and check valve that it had to be the timer and replaced that too... Another $120 and same problem... What would cause a seemingly fine machine to get in its own way and not get the final rinse water completely out? Regards, Rob

You never explicitly stated the problem you're seeing with the machine: Not draining? Not tumbling? Not spinning?

To better clarify my scenario, sorry for any confusion, my washer runs great right up to the end of cycle... No apparent issues until you open it up and find sopping wet clothes and a small puddle of water remaining in the tub. It has a new belt and timer... It has been taken apart and all lines cleared, although were already... The circuit board shows no burnt resistors.. The motor does go on HI SPIN at what appears visually to be true speed.. The water pump seems fine, was taken apart and inspected, as well as the check valve holding back flow from outlet sufficiently... I don't know what is keeping it from removing the final amount of water during the final rinse cycle which leaves my clothes sopping wet... Regards, Rob

When the washer pumps out, lift the drain hose a little bit out of the drain pipe and check the discharge stream. Should be full-bore and strong. If it comes out and tapers off right away, there's a pump or drain hose problem. Have you checked the pump cleanout?

When it pumps, it flows well!!! My outlet pipe is approx 60" off floor, which is well within Maytag specs of 40 - 96 inches...also it is in the same unchanged location where it has been for years. As for cleanout, I assume your referring to the black suction boot coming from the inside of the tub... If so, then yes we cleared from pumpside inletand and also inside tubside outlet when suspected an obstruction of some sort was lodged inside.. Thanks for the reply

Bits off gookus caught in the pump impeller or a damaged impeller will keep it from pumping out all the way. Sounds like you may need a new drain pump. Drain pump part link==> CLICK

Wondered about pump/impellar... it was clean and seemed uncompromised by wear, however I cannot be sure without knowing clearances etc... Before I buy a new pump, any other thoughts on possible scenarios contributing to this scenario... If it needs a pump, then so-be-it, but looked good and pumps hard when dumping major volume of rinse cycle.. Thanks again, rob

Same result if you run a load with no detergent? Are you using HE detergent?

Yes it is the same result if running no load... I heard/read that it was possible for residue to build up in some areas and since we run mainly cold loads, we ran 3 cycles, no clothes or detergents on hot-wash and warm/cold rinse.... same result when tried to run a regular load of clothes afterwards... Doubt we run the HE detergent as I don't know what that is really. Thanks, Rob

Using non-HE detergent in these washers is a big Bozo No-No: http://fixitnow.com/wp/2007/11/01/high-efficiency-detergents-front-loading-washers-and-the-great-unwashed/

Was likely using NON-HE detergent, wife can't confirm or deny. Regardless, no noise indications like you mentioned. Ran couple emply loads with bleach as recommended to see if it helped in any way. It did not change anything ..... using neighbors washer again pending some other ideas on this beast. Regards, Rob

Sumpin ain't raht. Let's review: The washer spins at high speed spin. Check. The pump pushes water out at full bore. Check. Clothes are still wet at the end of the cycle. BZZZZ! If you have high-speed spin and pumpage, then the third condition can't exist. Plain n' simple. Review what's actually happening at the machine. We're not there so you're our eyes and ears. Garbage in, garbage out. Report back here at 1900 hours.

Ahh .... we are on the same confusing page, and hence my frustration.... The water is there, with extra wet clothes, upon completion of cycle. Open the door immediately or hours after completion, and it is the same..... It has a new belt .... no help It has a new timer .... no help I did the warm water washes and bleach washes to ungoop and gooped areas, still exactly the same... Check valve holds fine when trying to force water in discharge hose...

If the water is still there, then pump ain't doing it's job. How are you checking the pump discharge? I pull the drain hose out just a bit from the drain pipe so I can get my peepers on it. Make a video of what you see and post it on youtube so we can see it, too.

That washer shouldn't high speed spin with that much water in it. Are you sure it's spinning?

Santa, Thanks for the reply. Yes it spins at what I would guess is 50-60 rpms. continues to pump a trickle flow throughout spin cycle. I assume it only Hi-Spins on last rinse cycle, which I am unsure it does know, have to get the wife to run a load through it again I guess. Havent used for awhile, now need to get it running again. Has new belt and new timer, neither fixed the issue.

Put a cheater cord directly onto the drain pump terminals and see of it pumps well, if not, replace the drain pump![]() Last edited on Sun Nov 21st, 2010 07:08 pm by kdog ____________________ Can Ye spare some 'cutter me brutha ? http://web.me.com/zenzoidman/kdog/ |
