Have Maytag Neptune Washing Machine MAH5500BWW. It recently began to get stuck in the sping cycle. At around 8 minutesremaining in wash cycle, washer will begin spin cycle, slowly begin to spin-up until about 7 or 6 minutes remain and then stops spin cycle and resets timer to 8 minutes. This seems to repeat continuously (we've let it go through this cycle for up to 20 minutes). I've performed more troubleshooting today and determined that the washer has a diagnostic code of 10 stored. This translates to "low RPM unbalanced load" per service manual. As a test, I ran the washer through the spin cycle only with no clothes in the drum. It successfully reached full spin RPM and made it through the complete spin cycle - although the drum assembly did appear to have a wobble motion it would occasionally exhibit (drum would wobble a few inches) at lower RPMs as it was spinning-up (I could see this through the rear panel opening). Once it hit high RPMs, this occassional wobble went away. At any rate, this seems to indicate that the balance switches/circuitry may be working correctly and there is something else going on. Any ideas on why it will not make it through the spin cycle with clothes in the drum?

The drum appears to move easily when I grab it and push/pull. I am ordering a strut replacement kit to see if this fixes the problem...

Rule out suds first. Use *only* "HE" type detergent (a low suds formula detergent). Disregard the dosage instructions & use the following amounts: (Check the label to determine which concentration detergent is being used) HE (regular strength) : (2) Tablespoons Per Wash Load HE 2X (double concentrated) : (1) Tablespoon HE 3X (triple concentrated) : (1) Teaspoon On Maytag Neptune front load washers--it is not uncommon to get complaints of *poor spin/intermittent spin*. Excessive suds causes *drag* and the MOTOR & MOTOR CONTROLLER detects this condition (high electrical load)---shutting down the spin portion of the cycle.

Thank you for your response. I have replaced the washer shocks and tub mount springs (actually 1 spring as I didn't realize there were 2). Also leveled washer but still having same issue of washer getting stuck in spin cycle at around 8 minutes remaining in cycle. Will try purchasing some HE detergent to see if this has any impact. Also will check various balance sensors with voltage/resistance meter to verify correct. Only other oddity with the washer's operation is that the timer appears to randomly add a few minutes (7 minutes fore example) when selecting the various wash modes for a given laundry load. Then the next time, the timer will show the correct (default) wash time for each cycle. Not sure why it is sometimes adding more minutes for the same wash settings. We're having to go to a laundromat to do our wash so will be glad when this is fixed! Thanks again for your help.

UPDATE: The "HE" detergent did not help this problem. We continued washing clothes with the washer getting stuck in the spin cycle for another 2 months. Then I started to read about Neptunes having bearing problems after about 8 years (ours is 8 years old). We hadn't realized because it was gradual but the washer was making some noise when it went into the spin cycle. I spent a Saturday replacing the bearings and the washer now completes the spin cycle normally. It was a tough job but washer is working again. I'm guessing the bearings were causing enough resistance to cause the washer to reset in spin cycle. Wanted to follow-up in case anyone else has similar issue. Thanks to everyone for their input!
