I read your post and viewed the diagram, http://applianceguru.com/forum2/24241.html.

However, you say to remove the inner tub and sump cover and will most likely find coins. According to that diagram, are you talking about part #6?  I removed that, but, nothing.  So, I turned the washer on its side and took off the two pumps on the bottom and didn't find anything in them or the hose, and no cause for the noise.  The impellers seemed fine and were not damaged in any way.

The odd thing is that the noise only occurrs 'sometimes' and rarely.  But, when it does happen, it is very loud.  I had a dishwasher once that had a chicken bone in the drain pump and it sound the same, (except every time it drained).

Ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Hopefully it isn't a chicken bone this time :). Sounds like an elusive piece of debris may be haunting this machine. Probably going to have to catch it in the act and stop it immediately and disect.

Did you remove the white plastic pump inlet cover piece, too? That's where coins like to hide.

This issue went away and resolved itself...oddly enough.

The pump finally flushed the dime.
