Hello, Just thought I'd ask in case this is fixable by my husband..!! My 4 year old oven was working perfectly until the other day when it suddenly stopped right in the middle of heating a frozen pizza! The oven shutdown completely..I went out and checked the fuse box and the safety cutout had turned to off. I turned it back on and the oven display came back on but now the oven isn't heating up..it gets slightly warm but nothing more. Any Ideas??
Hello mitchfitz firstly which function were you using to heat the pizza. IE bake? fan bake? etc. Try the oven on another function eg grill and see if that works. It is likely one of the elements has failed. Look at the two elements in the top of the oven and look for any rupture. If you were on fan bake its a good bet the fan bake element has failed. you can check this by removing the cover at the rear of the oven cavity and you will see the element round the outer edge of the fan.
Thanks for the help master...I certainly was using the fan bake function at the time. Hubby will check the element post haste. If it is this element that is the problem is it hard to fix? and why did it go in the first place? I'm sorry but I know nothing about such things except to say I remember my mums old 25 year old oven never having to have a darn thing done to it!! Is mine a lemon or am I just unlucky????
Pretty good guess that your fan bake element has failed. It is not too hard to change once you have the cover off. One screw and two clips. You will need to take the rear panel of to access the wires. If you havent done this sort of thing before draw yourself a diagram of where the wires go before you pull them off the old element.
Once fitted make sure you have the fan cover in place to test it. Running the element without the fan cover may let the element overheat.
Just a quick note to thank you for your help ethicalfix. Hubby removed the fanforce element as per your instructions and we bought a new one from a local factory today. Put it in this afternoon and it works like a dream!! Saved us a fair bit of money no doubt...and hubby is happy he could do it himself. Once again thank you for helping us.
