Oh wise, repair masters.  I'm am seeking wisdom in continuing with a repair on my neptune MAH5500BWW or saving the cash towards a saber.

It started a couple weeks ago, when you wise folks helped me repair/replace the main control board, once in place I received the dreaded LR code.

I can just see a small burn mark on the motor control board with a mirror.  Picture posted.

Anyhow.  The main question is....if I continue with my repair and sink another $280 (with the main control board, I'll be up to $530) for the parts at partselect.com  Will this be the end of my worries for a while.  Or should I stop now, and put the money towards something else....like a decent used staber.

Can just the motor control board be replaced?  Or should I just follow through with the entire motor/control board conversion.

THanks in advance.

BTW

I did find some used Stabers  on craigslist from about 300 and up, they are just way to far from where I live.  use this www to look at all of CS,  craiglook.com, pretty cool

I guess I could have added my serial number 73941036zu.

The technical bulletin here: http://applianceguru.com/forum2/22069.html mentions the motor and control board replacement is for series 88. How do I know my series?

Thats a lot of money to sink into a Neptune machine. What will fail next? However there are companies that can rebuild your board for about $140. That may be a wiser option.

THAT's the problem: you're looking for parts at the wrong place. That's a Bozo No-No! :nono: :fingerwag:

Motor and control board kit at RepairClinic: $180

Yes, that's the part you need.

Depending on how you use the machine, you can expect anywhere from 2 years to 20 years life.

Here are some ways to make this washer last longer:

1.) ONLY use HE (High Efficiency) laundry detergent specifically made for front load washers.

2.) Use bleach and hot water at least once a week even if you run a cycle without clothes in the machine to keep the door boot from getting mold and mildew on it.

3.) NEVER wash rubber backed throw rugs, bath mats or any article of clothing that will fall apart in machine and clog the drain pump. (This also goes for stuff left in pockets.)

4.) DO NOT use liquid fabric softener, it makes a disgusting mess of the machine and promotes mold and mildew.

Good luck with your repairs.
