After reading on the subject, I believe my thermal switch/fuse is bad. The dryer will not come on and after investigating, found the dryer vent got clogged by a birdsnest. I ohmed out the switch and it reads open/infinity. Now I take it that the switch is bad, the question is........ Can I jumper across the switch to ensure that that is the problem? Just wanted to see if there are any safety issues before I proceed

Yes, you can jumper it just to test it out.
