SUCCESS! I installed a new motor and a new blower turbine. Put everything back together making sure to replace all the foam duct seals; in the end, I had no spare screws left over and no empty screw holes! Dang I'm gettin good
Fired everything right up and ran a diagnostic reporting ZERO errors. Big deal, the real test is running the dryer right? So I did just that and boy does this thing put out some furnace hot air at gale force with this new blower motor. I mean that thing really winds up in there like a turbo booster -- no wonder the clothes dry so darn fast in this dryer -- it moves A TON OF AIR!
Here is the wisdom and frustration I will pass on to those who undertake to do the same repair in the future. THE NUT THAT HOLDS THE BLOWER WHEEL ON THE CENTER PIN IS REVERSED! IF YOU TRY TO LOOSEN IT BY TURNING IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE (LEFTY LOOSEY), YOU WILL SHEER THE NUT AND BOLT RIGHT OFF LIKE I DID AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO ORDER A NEW TURBINE BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET THE OLD ONE OFF. THAT IS A $50 MISTAKE! SO JUST REMEMBER, FOR WHATEVER RETARDED REASON, THEY PUT THIS SUCKER ON BASS-ACKWARDS SO TURN IT CLOCKWISE TO GET IT OFF. AND THAT PISSER OF IT ALL IS THE IT DOES DIRECT YOU TO DO SO IN THE MANUAL BUT YOU READ RIGHT OVER IT BECAUSE YOU FIGURE, NO SH*&, I KNOW HOW TO LOOSEN A NUT! ANYONE KNOW WHY THEY DID IT THIS WAY?
Good luck for all who undertake this repair in the future -- it is well worth the time, money, and effort...if you learn from my mistake.
Cheers my fellow DIYers!
