My kenmore direct drive washer model #20942991 will try to start the spin or agitate cycles, and most of the time it will just sit and click as if it were trying to start but just can't get up enough go juice. The cord gets hot and the laundry room fills with ozone..... Sometimes, the spin or agitate cycle starts just fine, but most of the time the machine will hang on one of the cycles. I took the start capacitor out and tested it. It was fine. I found that the clicking was coming from the Motor Start Module, so I took it out (Whirlpool part #8299621) but I have no idea how to test it to see if it needs to be replaced, or if it is just a weak motor that needs replaced. I am pretty sure that the motor is ok, based on the fact that once it starts, it seems to have alot of power and doesn't hesitate with big loads or spin slow or anything that you would expect from a bad motor. What do you think? Motor start module, bad motor or something else entirely?
Thanks,
James.
