Greetings from Austin Texas enlightened Masters, I've just hooked up my first reincarnated (recycled, which means no manual) dryer and cannot figure out if there is a pilot light to light. I'm ready to pass the gas ( It is a 70's series (like the Brady Bunch?) Kenmore #110.76712690. Muchas Gracias, ya'll.

Your ignitor is part#279311, and it is an electronic one not a manually lit one. it is located behind the front panel on the left where the burner tube is.

Thanks Poobah, I really appreciate the reply. I was wondering what my next step is? Do I turn on the gas and just start the dryer? I have never hooked up a dryer before but have faith in my ability to hook up a gas line and plug in a machine! Just skittish about turning on the gas and hoping for heat.

Is the problem that it's not heating up? If so, then use your light stick to see if the ignitor is getting voltage. If it is, and no glow-no heat, then replace the ignitor. http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=3415 Last edited on Thu Jan 15th, 2009 05:07 pm by Samurai Appliance Repair Man ____________________ To ask a question, use our new forums==> http://appliantology.org 365-Day No-Hassle Return Policy on all parts purchased through this site, even electrical parts that have been installed! |

Yeah just hook up the gas line and make sure there is no leaks. Plug it in and set the timer and turn it on. Then ifyou don't get the right results refer to samurais posting on checking the ignitor. Good Luck

Electronic ignition, no pilot to light, if you are sure there are no gas leaks, turn the gas on and start the dryer, here are the parts shown for your model number, shows the igniter.. http://www.repairclinic.com/Parts?s=t-110.76712690.-%3d%3d&z=100

It may take a few tries, since there may be air in the Gas Line... If the Dryer was in storage for a long time and the plastic cap wasn't re-installed over the Gas Line Stub, you may have other problems...

VICTORY! The problem was me being uneasy about the gas and no pilot to light. I was afraid to turn on the daggone thing! There must have been air in the gas line, second time was the charm. Thanks everyone, drinks are on me!
