A couple of days back my washer stopped spinning  during the wash cycle. The drum was empty so the drain pump is working properly. This has also been tested several time since just to make sure.

After reading a few other posts and reading the "tech sheet" inside the front cover I decided to run through the troubleshooting steps. I think I made it through all of the voltage checks ok.  Currenlty, I am trying to check the resistance on the the speed control unit.

Should this resistance be checked on the speed control unit itselft or on the wiring harness that plugs into the board.  I have already measured the resitance on both.  On the board the resistance is around 80 - 90 K Ohms and on the harness it is 2.7 - 2.9 Ohms (not M Ohms).  Before buying a new board, I thought I would run this past the experts.

Also, executing the steps on the "tech sheet" GE instructs you to put the timer to the start of the Regular wash cycle in one step and the Heavy Wash position in another step. Could somone clarify this a little?  I just want to make sure the motor should have been spinning in the position I placed it.  It seemed that the only motors I could here hum are the drain pump and another during the filling cycle.

Regards

Ok, so I took a break an measured the resistance again on the speed control board.  Between pins 1 and 3 and 1 and 2 the resistance measures 1.4 ~ 1.6 M ohmns, this is way outside the threshhold.  Between pins 2 and 3 the resistance measured 3.33 M Ohms, just on the outside of the threshold.

I thinking of ordering the speed control board listed below. I'm just looking for confirmation on my decision.
