Hi,

Water won't leave the dispensor distribution system (it leaks out of the front when the machine starts.)

Any ideas what is going on?

My girlfriend (not English reading) misplace the detergent and put it in the softener bin but I doubt that is the issue.

Kenmore Type 831, Model 110.46462501, Ser HLT0730482

Definitely donate more beers or two to the fund when I get this fixed...

Thanks!

There may be a leak in the Water Hoses, Water Inlet Valve (#1) or connections (#2, #3, #5)

So, how do I test that?  Do I just take the dispensor out and pour water in to see if it is leaking?

So what I did so far:

I popped off the top, popped off the dispenser cabinet, and ran the machine

1) no water leaks viewable from water inlet, or any of the 3 hoses connected to the dispensor box.  Of course the one off the right upper right hand side of the dispensor box, no water went into.

Water from the water inlet hose to the dispensor box was just fine.

The problem was water draining from the dispenser box.  It just didn't do it.  I couldn't see the hose that connected to the dispensor box that drained it so I took off the face plate (if that is what you call it) and a metal face plate and squeezed the hose.

It was securely connected from what I could tell and it seems that it is not at least the openings of the dispenser box to the hoses or a leaky hose.

I assume then the water must not be entering the tub?  I squeezed the hose that drained the dispenser box and there was nothing in there from what I can tell...

Any ideas?

Spent the last few hours scratching my head...

Thanks!
Chin

I also tried doing a diagnostic check on it (4 times I pressed the button for 4 seconds & release for four seconds) and I don't quite understand if there was any fault code that it gave me...   I don't quite understand Technical Sheet 8540259 and I don't see my problem listed on that tech sheet, so I figure that I post and just tell you what I saw after I press the same keys; here is what lit up...

1) Controls locked & Add a garment
2) Controls locked, spin & clothese clean
3) Controls locked, add a garment, rinse, clothes clean
4) Controls locked, rinse & clothese clean,
5) Then all the lights came on,
6) Drain & Spin light
7) Then doors locked, add a garment, rinse, clothes clean

I think at this point, it started adding water to the dispenser and the water overflowed from the front upper left dispenser again.

Finally, when the dispenser was filled with water, I tried to see what putting the washer on the drain cycle would have on it's effect.  The drain cycle made the water drain out of the dispenser just a tiny bit faster than if the drain cycle was not on.  I might have been imagining the additional quickness in speed...

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you so much.  Pretty desperate at this point...

thanks!

with the drawer out look in the back of the dispenser box for an obstruction. The opening in the back of the box drains straight down through a hose into the machine. you must have a blockage in the back of the box or in the hose somewhere.

small garments get stuck where the dispenser hose goes into the tub on he2's. take the clamp off the front of the door boot, pull the boot off the front of cabinet and pull the hose out of the tub. you'll find a sock perhaps

Thanks for the responses, I'll do that after I get out of work at 2 a.m. tonight.  I did pull out the cabinet drawer (1st thing I did) and I couldn't see an obstruction.

I have a really basic question, in order to take out the dispenser, what is the best way to loosen the clamps that clamp over the hose?  Also, how do I get them back on after removing them?  Will I have to remove all three clamps to the dispensor in order to get to the bottom one?

Is there a valve that is suppose to open where the drain hose drains into the tub?

Thanks so much,

you shouldnt have to remove the dispenser. just pull the hose out(#14 in the diagram above) where it goes into the tub. i bet thats where the problem is.

Thanks for the response.  I agree that it must be hose # 14.   Interestingly enough on the HE2 there is another hose on the right hand corner that is on the posterior right hand corner that is not shown in this diagram.

In order to get at # 14, I need to lift the dispenser up since it is located in the inferior left corner but a little deeper then shown in the diagram.  The water inlet hose is pretty small so it really doesn't allow for as much stretch that I could just easily look at hose # 14.

I had already stuck my finger as deep in there as possible to see if I could reach for anything that was stuck yesterday.   I couldn't really see the hose without having removed the water inlet hose, so thus the questions about how to remove the clamps.

Thanks again for your help!  Responses very much appreciated!

you can get to hose14 from underneath if you take the door boot off the front of the cabinet. there is a clamp that you can remove with a flat head

" Locate the wire hoop retainer around the rubber door boot. It is located behind the rubber seam where it attaches to the door frame. Follow this hoop around to the bottom of the door opening and locate the wire tension spring. Gently pry this spring apart and pull the wire hoop from the groove. Pull the rubber boot from the frame"

Is putting back the rubber boot self explanatory?  What number is the wire tension spring on this diagram? Thanks so much for everything.

Another beer coming from me for all the help!

Thanks,
