| The washer no longer spins although it continues to sound as if it's spinning and adds in a few other grinding noises. I've taken the top off and checked to see if I can spin the drum manually with the spin cycle turned on. I can move it with difficulty. The brake seems to be holding well. I looked underneath to see if the pulley is moving, and I can move it easily in either direction. The belt however is cracked and slipping. The white plastic cap under the main pulley is loose and there appears to be some oil on the floor under the unit. I will be replacing the belt, but is that it? Diagnosis anyone?

How do I confirm whether it needs the thrust bearing kit?

Lift the top up (not the lid, leave it closed make the lid switch). Start the unit in the spin position. With the unit running, and sounding like it should be spinning, I assume your basket is stuck dead. While the unit is doing this, reach in and try to turn the tub in a spin direction. IF the tub is stuck solid, and will not move, your break is not released (Thrust Bearing)or you have an article stuck between the tubs. If you can turn the tub, almost like a roulette wheel, but it will not spin on it's own, this means the break is released (thrust bearing good) and your transmission is FUBAR>>>>>

Thank you for your help! I just put in a new thrust bearing kit and I hope I aligned the cam arrows correctly. I did notice though, that when I laid the unit down on it's back, the motor tilted back and the motor pivot/slide parts would slide back and forth on one side when I pulled or pushed on the motor pulley. After I finished installing the thrust bearing kit and put on a brand new belt, I tried to tighten the motor pivot/slide (as the unit is lying on it's back, it is the top pivot/slide that is loose) and could not not matter how much I tightened it. I believe it may need to be replaced also. How do I find the correct part, if I need to replace it? And what is the correct tension on the belt?
Thanks again for helping me with this!

the motor is supposed to be able to slide around so the tension will be correct
