Dear Samurai Appliance Repair Man
After the first sign of the problem, I switched to the delicates spin cycle, and the washer spun. For the next load of clothes, I started with the delicates cycle, and upon reaching the spin cycle, I got no spin. So, I switched to another cycle and got spin.
Per your post regarding another Maytag, my dad tested my Maytag and ...
-Found normal resistance reading in the low single digits for ......motor, ohm out from the white wire terminal to the black wire terminal to check the continuity of the reg. speed winding. Remove at least one of the wires from its terminal in order to isolate the motor from the rest of the circuit. Normal resistance reading is something in the low single digits.
-Got no voltage for ...... reattach all wires, plug the washer in and set it to run on a regular wash cycle. Let it fill satisfy the pressure switch then measure for 120vac at the black wire on the motor. Have voltage == bad motor.
- Got no voltage for:..., jump up to pin 16 of the pressure switch and check for voltage there. No voltage == bad pressure switch.
Then we remembered that our Maytag has a different schematic than the previous poster. And the difference seems to be significant, for the pressure switch. I'll upload ours in the a.m.
Also, by the end of our tests, the switch-cycles fix failed to work.
Thanks,
Jerry

What's the voltage at the Black wire of the Motor when the Washer is Full ? should be 0v when running
What's the voltage at pin 16 (and pin 7) of the Fill Switch when the Washer is Full ? should be 0v when Full

| are you getting voltage at motor yellow wire? if not suspect a bad lid switch. also is the motor humming at all or is it dead? Last edited on Tue Aug 19th, 2008 08:06 by denrayr

16 to 7t has voltage
16 to 7n no voltage
16 to 7a no voltage
yes --voltage at motor yellow wire
no- voltage at the Black wire of the Motor when the Washer is Full

I regret my delayed response in getting and posting results.
Can someone help a potential Hurricane Gustov target?
Thanks,
Jerry in Baton Rouge.

If the Motor Yellow wire has 120v AC and the Black wire has 0v, the Motor should be running (or humming)
Check the Motor White wire (should be the same as the Yellow, if not, the Motor Overload is bad.Last edited on Sat Aug 30th, 2008 01:56 by RegUS_PatOff

Motor was running/humming.
Motor white wire, during the fill process, had no voltage. Do I need to check it after the fill?
Thanks.

Motor should Agitage only after the Fill
Motor should Spin (in Spin Cycle) full or not
Is the Motor running when it fails to Spin ?
OR is the Motor just humming when it fails to Spin ?

The motor has a very low hum, during the failed spin cycle. I have to put my ear on the washer to hear it. There is also a pulsating character to it, consistent with the sloshing sound one hears during agitation.
Also, to be clear the agitation is intermittent. If I turn the timer/wash cycle control knob to another spin cycle, this produces agitation sometimes.
Thanks,
Jerry
