I have a broken door lock to replace.

I've searched the posts here, read the link that explains about cutting the glue on the lip of the boot on the front panel with a razor and can't free the boot up.

I've lifted and gone around the edge of the boot with a putty knife and can't see any adhesive holding the boot down.  I've tugged and pryed and can't get the gosh-darn (substitute your own expletive here) thing to release.

Could it be a loose nut behind the putty knife handle or is there some trick to freeing up the boot from the front panel?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Without the full model number it is difficult to help here, but I'll give it a shot.
Kenmore model numbers have three digits before the period and those are very important to have in order to know what brand product we're working on here.

The door boots have a ring around the outer lip of the face with a spring at the bottom.  I've found that a small flathead screwdriver can catch this spring and bring it out to where you can pull the rest of the ring off.  You then can access the door lock assembly.

The trick to getting the ring back on is to use a little bit of liquid soap on your fingers, this will allow you to easily slide the ring back around the lip.

Sorry, it's my 1st post, I misread the rules and thought it said not to include the 1st 3 digits of a kenmore appliance.

The full model# is 110.44392 200

A thousand thanks Robby, that loop to the spring was right where you said it would be and it was so simple!  If it bit I'd be on my way to the hospital.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion Reg.

FYI there is no clamping screw in the upper right or any other area of the tub opening on my machine.

Robby was correct about the spring at the bottom edge of the boot.
