For those not familiar with the GWL08, the wash temp control panel has 3 lights, hot, warm and cold. It is also possible to select 2 lights at once and that is where the leaking begins.

The washer leaks during fill when warm & cold are selected.

Cold alone does not leak, warm alone does not leak, hot alone does not leak, hot warm, does not leak.

I'm not going to have the free time to do more troubleshooting for a week or so, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone had seen this before.

Thanks

I HAVE TO ASK : why are you selecting two temps at the  same time ?   it was a year or more sense i say one of these but i know it has a 3 port valve and a small pipe to the drum so if you open 2 valves at once you might be overloading allmost anything from the valve to the pipe to the hood that the pipe attaches to ........so again why are you doing that ?

I wasn't selecting it, my wife was...

It was driving me crazy that whenever she did laundry, the washer would leak, but whenever I did laundry, it never leaked.  She was choosing warm&cold because she thought it was a warm wash with a cold rinse.  Now she chooses either warm or cold and there are no more leaks.

After looking at the manual, it appears that perm press and wool settings will default to the warm & cold water temp also.

I'm still going to pull the machine out and run a warm-cold cycle to see where it's leaking when I have the time.

Why wouldn't the hot & warm selection leak if it was overloading something?

Thanks

most houses have higher cold water pressure , sometimes its harder to see than others . but allmost all homes have it   .so if you dont open the cold valve(hot setting) or only open a little port in the cold valve(warm) you might not overload the system  ........... sounds to me like FP  needs to buld a lockout for this ......... if it can be done.... you wife cant be the only one doing it

I need to clarify my original post. The leak I was referring to is water coming out of the washer onto the floor, then flowing on the floor out the front side of the washer.

yes i understand . this happens when the fill valve opens . you have 3 valves inside the fill valve assy .
when you selsct more than one temp at once  you open more than one valve at a time ( this is not normal )  when you get the hot and cold going at the same time you overload something in the system and you get a leak  . .next time i am working on a FP i will try this and see where it leaks and post  . my point was FP should know about this problem . when you select a temp and then go to select another the first one should release
