washer leaking out door only as 3rd rinse fill is going on--wierd. I have noticed also that, at times, the fabric softener dispenser is full at the end of the cycle. I have started the washer during this time with the door open to see if somehow the dispenser is overflowing and therefore the culprit, but to no avail. any advice/ fix it help would be appreciated. I used to rebuild-repair maytag top loads for rental business, but this stack washer is new to me.

Wild guess: Broken or mis-adjusted water nozzle for the softener... or something like that. Would spray part of water off, possibly spilling on the outside of the tub and appearing as leakig thru the door. Examine the dispenser carefully.

yes. I thought the same thing. I kept the door open and visually checked this possibility; if the nozzle were misadjusted, it would certainly leak out of the door as it would overflow outside of the door gasket. Unfortunately no such luck. As I said before, it only leaks on the third rinse FILL: I would assume this is when the dispenser is filled to release the softener. I checked the path of water from the dispenser as well and it seems to drain properly. This being the case, the dispenser can overflow into it's outer "cup" and not leak out at all.

Any other enlightenment would be greatly appreciated

You are correct in thinking that is when the fabric softener is flushed out. Pouring water in it to create a siphon is different from it filling itself. I would take the tubing off from the cup to the tub cover gasket and clean it, and the nipple it connects to on the tub cover in case you have any crap build up.l

here's you water valve, you could try disconnecting the softener coil... (purple wire on far right in this picture)

or it could be a bad water softener hose (PDF page 77)

thanks for the manual-very helpful. I like the trouble shooting ideas between you and TTH and plan to use them. I want to clarify that I actually let the machine fill/tumble with the door open by pushing and holding the door switch, and pushing the washer start button. While the machine won't spin, it will allow fill/tumble/softener operation-albeit, with some splashing! While doing this, I was able to visually watch the softener fill "in action"-Really, a cool and simple idea- and it operated as it should. But, i do think it still has to be associated with this action, as nothing else makes sense

Thanks, and don't forget to try North Coast Brewerey's October fest here in a few months. BTW it is a micro brew out of Ft. Bragg, CA and of coarse they have other killers beers too.

And still, if anyone has some other incredible knowledge to pass on to an eager apprentice, it's much appreciated.
