Hi All. My dryer is dead save for the dryer timer as that I can hear it ticking. I have checked the door switch, power, hi-limit thermo, cycling thermo sensor and the thermol fuse and all are good. I have checked the bias heater and it registers 3k ohms. I'm not sure I should be seeing 3K or not. From that point on I'm not sure what else to look at besides what I have listed above. I guess I'm looking for a check list of what components to check and what to check for on the components. (continuity, resistance, etc.) BTW the preliminary steps I took I got from your web site. This is a great site!! Thanks

You stated you checked the power, did you check it at the terminnal block where the cord connects to the dryer?

I checked both at the outlet and the the terminal connection on the back of the dryer. I have the wiring diagram but I can't figure out how to get it posted.

Ohm out the start switch as well and check to make sure that the door switch actuator isn't broken (the strike is actually hitting the switch when the door is closed)

does the drum tumble ? does the drum motor make any noise if you hold the start switch ? is the belt OK ? upload limit is 200k can you save the diagram as a .png (photoshop)? I have zeroed out the starter and the door switch and have tested the door to insure that when it closes it contacts the switch...closing the circuit. As for the tumbler question I am not sure what you mean. The drum does rotate and there is a tumbler selection on the dial. I have scanned in the wiring diagram to my computer but each time I try to upload it I get an error telling me the file exceeds 200K bytes. I made the file smaller...down to 366K but I still get the same error.

So I can freely turn the drum by hand and I don't hear anything when I press the start button. I will probably take out the drum and belt to insure there is no load on the motor. But before I get to that I want to see if there is anything else I can look at before doing that.

Ok, so as you can tell I'm a little slow on the uptake. (It's Friday night and burnt out from work) To answer RegUS_Pat's earlier question...the drum does not tumble. Pretty much I hit the start button and nothing. I've checked all the sensors and was able to zero them out. The bias heater, or thermostat heater, comes back with 3Kohms and at both the outlet and the terminal on the back of the dryer I get 240VAC. I also checked the door switch and that seems to check out ok as well. I haven't looked at the motor yet with the DMM but from a visual standpoint the belt looks good and I see the terminal connections on the motors are good as well. I even checked the connections by hand. They all seem to be good.

you have to check to see if you're getting voltage to the motor (while someone holds the start switch) and the check the voltage at each side of the motor fuse.
