OK, here's the deal.

We have a DUET ghw9200lq and everything seems to work ok on it, EXCEPT, when it enters the rinse cycle, it just spins a bit back and forth, no rinse water is added, and the timer counts down to 0:01 and never stops. It will go forever.

I took the lid off, and watched the actuator. The rinse should go to IV, (I = prewash, 2=wash, 3=?, 4=rinse).

I've watched the actuator throughout the entire wash cycle. It "behaves normally" through the entire first portion of the overall cycle. However, when the washer gets to the rinse cycle, the actuator spins and the selector dial/water directional dial starts going from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 to 2, etc and never stops and never dispenses water at position #4. Therefore, the liquid fabric softener is never inserted, and the washing machine just does this forever (first counting down to 0:01 and then staying on 0:01 for as long as you leave it there - could be 4 hours or more).

Is the machine draining the water out? what wash and rinse temps. are you using?

Hi, thanks so much for your email.

The machine does drain during other cycles. For instance, if I select the Drain and Spin cylce, it drains just fine. However, since the rinse cycle just sits there forever, it never concludes and does not drain at the end of the rinse cylce.

I have tried it with all water temps - cold, warm, hot, and "sanitary". The water always seems to dispense just fine during the various cycles.

during the rinse cycle you need to check voltage on the water inlet valve (the part that the hoses screw to) there is a hot and cold port on the valve. whatever rinse temp. that you have it set on read the corresponding valve for voltage. If there is not voltage then your control board is bad. Make sure that you check it right when it goes into the rinse if possible.

OK, I can do that - but how do I check the voltage? I live in Italy and am using a 1,500 watt transformer/converter since the washer is from my home in the USA. Is there a device I can purchase to read this voltage?

U.S. voltage is 120 volts AC, i'm not sure what it would be where you are.

Hi, the "native" voltage is 220. However, I have a 1,500 Watt transformer that converts this 220 to 110. So, the short answer is that I am supplying 110V to the washer. Is that the voltage I should be looking for with the meter?

if the machine is filling up with water and washing but when you get to the rinse cycle it never fills and you know that you have 110-120 Volts on the inlet valve you need to make sure that the inlet hoses are connected properly (hot water to hot valve, cold water to cold valve).

OK, I checked - the inlet hoses are indeed hooked up correctly - hot to hot, cold to cold.

Is water coming into the machine during rinse? If not, then replace the water inlet valve and be done with it. If it is, then we have a siphoning issue to deal with.

OK, here's what happened:

I selected Rinse/Spin cycle
The countdown timer indicated the cycle would be 21 minutes. The Selector went to I, water went into the machine for about 4 or 5 seconds and then stopped.
The selector then went to II, and water went into the machine for about 45 seconds, and then stopped.
The countdown timer now says 19 minutes remaining. the Selector starts going from II -> III -> IV -> III -> II -> I ->II -> III and does not stop - it just keeps going and going. The drum is turning with the water inside during this time frame.
The timer then countdowns all the way to 01 (the entire time the drum is turning with water and the selector is just going back and forth and back and forth). It will do this forever (presumably).
After about 15 minutes of the timer showing 01 minute remaining, I hit pause/cancel, as I need to get the water out.
I then turn the knob to Drain/Sprin cycle. The selector then goes to I, stops, and puts water in for about 4 or 5 seconds.
Then, the water drains out and the drum spins and everything happens normally.

What do you think?

Ok, you've had an evolution of the problem description: You started by saying that no water comes in during the rinse cycle. But now, in your most recent post, you say that water does come in during rinse. So what's the problem that we're trying to solve here?
