Need to do Laudry-Please help Grasshopper

hi, i have a top load direct driven whirlpool washer, it doesn't wash or spin, but it fills with water according to what we choose on the water level switch, after that it does nothing. the timer doesn't even move. we checked the lid switch and the water level switch, and they both show ok according to a continuity test. we purchased a new timer switch, still nothing. we took out motor and opened the starter switch, saw burn marks on the contacts of the switch, cleaned the contacts with sand paper. still nothing-only the filling of water. our drive coupler looks fine, when we turn it by hand, the axle on the motor moves. any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. we've been at this washing machine for 3 days now. thank you

Sounds like you did a lot of testing, I want you to try one more. Sometimes the pressure switch (water level switch) can give you a false reading..fill the tub up like normal and with the washer on blow into the pressure switch. Use a piece of hose about the same size. If the machine starts to agitate, replace the pressure switch...Ron
