Hi, have a 7 year old Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWQ (s/n 40374436WQ) is really really loud during high speed spin cycles, everything seems to come out okay, it completes all the cycles and such, but we all race to the door when it goes in to the spin cycle. The rear tub bearing is toast. You have to replace the whole outer tub assembly as the bearing and seal are not replaceable separately. Maybe it's time to think about buying a new machine, this isn't an easy repair and the parts alone will run you close to $300 or so. The bearing would have lasted longer if you used HE detergent and you had the "anti mold kit" installed.

I told you so.  If you MUST buy another front load washer, buy a Whirlpool Duet. Do not get talked into buying a Bosch, LG or Fisher & Paykel. A Whirlpool top load washer is another machine worth buying, but STAY AWAY from the Cabrio.

I have the Maytag MAH3000AWW, bearings shot. I bought the "bearing and seal kit" featured on this website and am willing to do the work. However, one thing missing from "bearing and seal kit": the damn bearings! Not happy camper here. What's the big deal with the bearings? Are they custom made? Can't they be ordered from a bearing house? Need help Master.

I appreciate the quick reply very much. You guys are awesome. I've rebuilt everything else on this Neptune. The bearings would have made it a practically new machine. Damn. OK, it's heading to scrap. What now? One reason we've loved this machine is because it uses so little electricity. We have an alternative electrical system with a 4kw inverter. The system barely notices when the Neptune spins up. 7 amps maximum draw. We like that. Despite the low draw, it takes a reasonably big load. Double good. Above, the Whirlpool Duet is recommended, but customer reviews pan the machine, the company, and most of all, the horrible (lack of) warrantee service. Looks like a machine and a company to avoid. So, any other energy efficient machines you more experienced folks can recommend? Thanks again, -Jeff PS. I'll be returning the "bearing and seal kit" and belt.

We've decided to dump the Maytag. The inner basket fell off. Possibly the shaft is now broken. Have done tons of online research. Really want another front loader and it seems they all have a host of customer complaints except the GE line. (who'd a thunk it?) Looks like we'll buy the GE WBVH5300KWW at Home Despot which appears to be identical to the WCVH6800 but is a Home Depot special model number. I'll search here to see if there are repair issues, but it looks like most customers are really happy with it. Thanks again for being there. You folks have made my life with the Neptune tolerable.
