Over the past 18 months, I’ve had a several problems with my Kenmore Dryer (model #417.69042991):

1st. Occurrence, burnt wire at terminal block (power from the 240) and blown thermal limiter. Replaced both and the unit worked.
2nd Occurrence, blown thermal limiter. Again, replaced the part and the dryer started working again.
3rd Occurrence, burnt wire at terminal block.

This last one occurred yesterday. The drum spins, but without heat. For this reason, I'm assuming the thermal limiter is OK, but I can’t confirm this yet because my multi-meter isn’t working (and thus haven’t been able to check anything else, ex: thermostat-safety)

The first time, the dryer and vent were heavily clogged with lint. But after that, I’ve cleaned it. Any idea why this keeps happening?

Thanks O Most Wise Ones

judging by your history of power cords it sounds like you have a lood connection at the terminal block. if one of those screws or the wires (inside) going to the terminal block are loose you will be melting cords left and right.

As far as heating issues you will not be able to diagnose without a multimeter...

when you get your multimeter check to see if the thermostat is open.. its next to the thermal limiter. if its open it wont heat.

also do a resistance test on the heating element...  it should be between  6 - 15 ohms maybe. idk without a wiring diagram. you may not be able to do it from the top... you would have to unfortunatly take the drum out.

worst case senario is a timer or wire harness issue.

if these suggestions dont fix it let me know and we can take it further with more specific checks and proceedures.

I just checked all of the connections at the terminal block and they all seem tight???

Once I a new battery in my multi-meter replaced, I will start checking the thermostat, etc.

Again, thanks.
