your neighbor is wrong it has nothing to do with the coupler. something is blocking the water discharge. check the pump for a sock or something stuck in there.

When you say "check the pump for a sock or something", how do you do that? I mean, do you have to take the pump apart, take off a hose, etc.??? Thanks, because I have the same problem. And with a little guidance, I think I'll be able to do it myself.

Hi, Here is a video that will show you how. http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=68.0 You should also take a look at the drain hose on the back of the washer to make sure it is not kinked anyplace.
