I had a technician look at the washing machine about a month ago because the cold water solenoid was only part opening. He replaced it for $150 (!) and it worked fine for a month and then died again. However now when I turn on the washer at the powerpoint the pump runs.

Then the pump stops.

Then it repeats over and over until I turn off at the wall. NOTE- The pump behaviour is **before** I have even pressed a single button on the control pad.

I have put water into the machine so that the pump doesn't run dry.

I have read about diagnostic codes and such but can't get any tech info from fisher and paykel Australia.

I can put it in diagnostic mode (I think anyway, cause I can press the temp buttons and open the solenoids) but don't know what else goes on. If I press start at this point the right hand light (number 7 of 7) goes on. If I press the spin speed buttons different combinations of indicator lights come on.

Well.... while I was playing with the washer in diag mode I learned some stuff. I noticed that the pump stopped going when it was meant to be stopped :) however when it tries to fill it "stop start"s and then eventually just lets out beeps and lights up leds 4, 6 and 7.

Any advice would be good as this has been a good washer for 8 years and I would like to avoid buying a new one.

However a local store has 50 months interest free right now and it wouldn't be too bad either way.

Very strange....

Seems that after I kicked it and told it I was off to buy another it worked.

Then the cold solenolid shut again (which wasn't caused by blocked screens)

So I connected the cold wires to the hot solenoid, and visa versa.

And now it works.

I think something is burning out on the main board - as there is an all to familiar and foreboding smell
