WE HAVE HAD THIS GE WASHING MACHINE FOR APPROX 6 YEARS.. MODEL NUMBER WPSE5290A0WW NEW MOTOR FOR THIS MACHINE IS: WH20X10009 IT STOPS DURING THE 6 MINUTE CYCLE AND GOES REAL SLOW AND THEN AFTER A WHILE STARTS AGAIN.. ALSO SOMETIMES THERE IS A CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM WHERE THE MOTOR IS.. ALSO THE MOTOR SHOWS SIGNS OF GETTING HOT IN THE FRONT (SCORCHED SOMEWHAT).. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT'S THE MOTOR WHICH IS APPROX 265.00 DOLLARS INSTALLED.. PER THE REPAIRMAN WHO CAME AND CHECKED IT OUT.. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A MOTOR TO INSTALL OR EVEN A REBUILT ONE EITHER... THE REPAIRMAN ALSO TOLD ME THAT GE WASHING MACHINES (ELECTRONIC) ARE A REAL JOKE IN THE INDUSTRY AND TO STAY AWAY FROM BUYING ANOTHER ONE.. IS MY PROBLEM A MOTOR OR CLUTCH OR ELECTRONIC BOARD? It is a GE Profile washer. A common problem they had with this motor was failure of the low speed winding. During the normal wash cycle the motor runs on low speed then switches to hi speed. The common complaint is this banging on/off then it stops when the hi speed starts. If this is what you got here is the motor for you...http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=963750

WOW THAT WAS REALLY FAST!!!! THANK YOU AND I WILL BUY THAT MOTOR... DO YOU THINK I COULD CHANGE THE MOTORS MYSELF? I AM VERY MECHANICAL AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE SPEED IN WHICH YOU REPLIED TO MY PROBLEM... AND YES, THAT IS EXACTLY THE MACHINE THAT I HAVE... THANKS AGAIN VIC.....

ALSO, WHERE DOES THAT CAPACITOR PLUG INTO??? AND DO I HAVE TO TAKE AN OLD ONE OUT OR JUST WHAT? THANKS AGAIN VIC....

There's a good chance your old one doesn't have the capacitor. That is a upgrade conversion kit and should have an instruction sheet included explaining how all is wired in. That wiring harness that comes in the kit also has a relay in it that isn't in your old unit. Not a hard job at all, remove front panel, remove the 4 nuts holding the motor in place, remove the belt and jocky the motor out of there, (it's kind of a tight fit but not difficult).
