Here's what we're going to be checking...meter on AC V, one probe on the white wire of the Water level switch (that probe will be staying there), first port of call with the other probe is the red wire on the lid switch. You should be seeing about 110 volts there. If you have 110 there, then go to the blue wire on the water temperature switch - you should have 110 volts there also. Try this and report back, I'm off for a :smokin:

So I think I am using the meter correctly by setting the AC V on 250, jamming the probe into the wire connector, and pulling the on button (on the washing machine) so that it is set on at a wash setting.

And here is the outcome...

- Lid switch gives me good indication of about 110 volts

- blue wire on the water tempature give me no reading.  So I pushed it in as hard as sensible, still no reading.  Then I applied the probe to the metal plug or attachment piece thing and still got no meter reading.  Then by accident I touched the probe to the blue water tempature wire #11 and the black water temperature switch lwire # 12 and the water came on.  I tried touching just th black # 12 and nothing happened so I tried toching both again and it kicked the water on again.  I don't know if this means anything but hey it made me excited.

OK, let's do a couple of other tests - one probe on 7 of the water level switch, other on the following points (in no particular order):

Blue wire on Timer

Red wire on timer

Again, we're looking for about 110 volts on each point. You're doing just fine.

Well I was not absolutly sure which one's were the timer wires, however, I checked all blue and red wires and except for the blue water level wire, they all got a good reading.

Blue water level wire? I presume you meant the blue water temp switch wire.

The ones I'm referring to plug into the timer.

Where all the pins are on the left hand side of the picture above, you should see a number of wires on your machine. We want to check the red and blue ones for 110 Volts.

Mac, those check out fine with 110 volts.  I'm getting concerned, my wife just called and said she heard there is a sale on washing machines at a store on her way home.  No really I am not making this up :grunt:!!

You appear to have a broken blue wire between the timer and the water temp switch. Can you run a temporary wire between those two points and try again? Also, check the wire for any obvious physical damage like dents, breaks in the insulation.

I can't seem to find any breaks in the wire, but I will try another wire and see what comes of it.

Thanks for all the help - a 3 beer salute and a 5 plane fly by to you!!!

Well I gave it one more try by using a bybase wire and accidently touched it to another part fo the temperature control swtich and what do ya know, the wash ccle began to fill.  So I am suspecting it is the post on the temperature control switch where the blue wire connects that is the problem.

Glad I did not have time to buy that motor.
