Haven't touched this unit for a while as it has been pretty cold out! Anyway on a whim, I decide to measure the voltage at the outlet with a multi-meter; interestingly enough i found that the reading is questionable. Between the 2 hot pins measures low (102.7V AC) compared to the other rooms Air Conditioners outlets (they are 120V AC on the button) but between ground and either hot pin is 121V. I guess could plug the suspect unit into one of the "other" outlets except that it is a big unit and weighs about 100lbs or so... so maybe I'll dig around for an extension cord with the 250V NEMA 6 type connectors to rule the outlet in or out as the problem. And if it was, I will repeatedly kick myself in the butt... and consider starting drinking again! Last edited on Fri Apr 1st, 2011 04:44 pm by paulcats02 |

Problem solved, maybe a drink is in order; a change in fuse and now it works like a charm! the 2 bedroom AC's outlets are 120V so only require 1 20A fuse each but the living room is 220V so it has to have 2 20A fuses and there was a 15A and a 20A hence the low voltage. thanks for all the previous suggestions, etc. anyway if the unit ever breaks (which it will someday) i'll know my way around (somewhat)
