| I have a Carrier Weathermaker 8000.....mod# on the a coil is cd5axa036017aaaa /// 3399x19782.....I have a pretty leak and managed to get by last year charging it a couple times but want to change it out this year...I was told by one parts house that because it was a Carrier unit that I would have to go back with a Carrier style unit because aftermarket ones probably wouldn't match up....true or not....I can purchase the aftermarket ones pretty reasonable I just need to know what I can do and what I can't...any help greatly appreciated

if it has the correct mounting flange you can use it . but years ago i was useing a few aftermarket coils and had trouble ,so i stopped and went back to OEM . i cant have problems i need to have the correct part , get it in and done ,billed and never hear from them again untill next year at checkup time . are you going to do the work or pay someone? is it cold or hot there now or in the next month ,so if your system was down it would be no big deal ? how much cheeper is the aftermarket coil ? ..................one more thing ................can you post a picture of the leak ......................i have never seen a "PRETTY LEAK" before ...........thanks BOB

Thanx for the reply Cactus Bob....should have read " pretty good"...I get ahead of myself sometimes  ....I don't know what the actual coil from carrier will be but the aftermarket runs between $150 and $175 .....it is just now starting to get warm and within the next 2 weeks to a mo. will be real warm....wife is already starting to ask when I'm going to get it fixed...we will be doing the work ourselves..Thanx again

THATS CHEEP with a price like that i would use an aftermarket too . carrier wants around 550.00 for the OEM and if your doing it on your own unit and it does not sit in there just right you can make it right . it not like the homeowner standing over you thinking you look like you have no idea what your doing as your trying to MAKE IT WORK .so go for it what do you have to loose

| that was my thinking also....the brand on the coils shows to be ADP (advanced distributor products) and it comes with a 5 year warranty....
