I've got a Whirlpool dishwasher which I bought 16 months ago. The top spinner fell off; it's pretty obvious that the pins which hold it in failed. OK, I think, no problem; I'll call Whirlpool and get a new spinner kit under the 2nd year wash module parts warranty. No dice. They won't pay for the part without sending out a tech to "diagnose" the problem. At my expense (warranty only covers parts). The part is about $16 including shipping... the math doesn't work there. By contrast, when I needed a new ignition part for my grille and a whole new cartridge for my faucet, the companies (char-broil and price-pfister) just shipped them right out. So I don't think it's me with the unreasonable expectations.

Moral of the story: just the buy the part for $16 and be done with it!
