Does anyone remember when JC Penney stop selling their own brand name Appliances?
Hotpoint used to make them.......not neccessarily GE, they came mostly out of the Chicago Hotpoint plant.
I would have guessed around 1977?

This brings back memories of when I worked for Montgomery Ward. That was the best appliance repair job I ever had. I worked right from my house, all my service calls were faxed directly to my house, all my parts were shipped to my house, I had no supervisors breathing down my back, and I had the whole geographical area to myself.
Also, when the song by Eddie Grant, "Electric Avenue" comes on the radio, it reminds me of when I worked at Montgomery Ward.

yes I remember them. a friend of mine worked at JCP and told me they were quitting appliances. that would have been about 1977 or 1978. can't seem to get the color avocado green out of my mind when I think of them.

Now I'm dating myself here, (now I feel old.) Looks like a few Franklins, a few Bendix, a few Norges and maybe even some Hamiltons in the picture. I'm glad I never had to work on any of them, looks like alot of sweat and labor to repair those, but at least they were only found in the basement back then, not installed in closets or stacked with a closet built around it on the second floor with off white carpeting in front of it.
