Our range is 2 years old and has had the relay switch replaced 3 times.  It has actually melted.  Of course, Viking says it is no longer under warranty, even though the 2nd time it happened, it was only 1 month out.  Is this a common problem?  Is there anything else we should check?  And now the part is no longer available??  What are we going to do the next time??!!!  the part was PM010129  Thanks for any help!!!

Scream, scream, scream. Who was the distributor? They will often go to bat for you in a case like this.

It was Stohrers Appliance in Pt. Pleasant, Aug 2004.  We just replaced the switch ourselves again to avoid the service charge - the part was only about $25, but the labor for each visit is what adds up.  I dont know what we will do next time it burns out - the part isnt being offered from repairclinic anymore.  Even some of the terminals leading into the relay were melted - we redid those also.  Its fine right now.

Stohrer's is simply the retailer. Carl Schaedel and Co. in Fairfield is the distributor. Give them a call @ 800-750-9857 and scream at them. They may be able to help you.

Sounds like the relay burnouts are merely a symptom of the real problem. Dig deeper.

Viking oven relay PM010129 is a somewhat common failure - common enough to warrant us to keep that part in stock in our warehouse.

Sometimes the oven will overdraw power when trying to get to max temp.

Unfortunately there is not much you can do. We have some customers that have this same failure like once a year!! It's awful !!
