I've got a Hotpoint CSX25GR BB refrigerator and while the ice maker does make ice, but when i press the button on the front of the freezer door to get ice, all i hear is the motor running. the arm that turns around and sends ice down to the door does not work. Can any of you tell me what part this is and suggest a good internet company that might sell this part? I'm more like Tim Taylor than Bob Villa so i hope this is something i can easily fix. I'm new to the forum so I apologize to the Samurai if i broke any rules with this post. I'll kill a goat out back if i pleases the Samurai.

If you promise to not hurt the goat I will suggest removing the ice bin and checking the coupler at the back that the motor turns, might be broken or wallowed out..

Take a look at reference # 349 at the rear, when you do find what is broken, you can order the parts right thru this site, see the order parts link...only if the goat is un-harmed however...

Thanks for the reply Peggy. I'll take it all out and see what i can see. I figure it's something involving that long thing that spins around making the ice move down the shoot. As for the goat, uh...I'll go turn off the grill. Dang.

Pegi, I have taken the ice tray out and have tested the button to see what's turning or working and what's not. the only thing i can see that is wrong is the square looking thing at the back that goes in teh back of the ice tray and rotates, making the ice move the shoot, is not turning. i tried getting it off with a ratchet but it's not budging. maybe i need to wd40 it some. if i send you a photo of the part that I think is malfunctioning, can you tell me what it's called and if you think i'm on the right track? Thanks so much!

Is the motor and fork turning? or is the problem the motor/fork is turning but the coupler is not that attaches to the augar screw?? Sure, we love photos...well most of them....sort of depends...get my drift....

ok let's see what we have here. If you can open the photo, the part on the left which rotates is the one not working. The white thing on the right vibrates when i push in the ice maker button so it appears to be fine. i just can't get the ice to leave the bucket and go down the chute to my glass. Sounds like your auger motor is out or frozen...remove the back panel to access this motor to see if it might be frozen up with ice, take a blow dryer to the thing....then try it again..or see if the motor is turning but the fork is loose from the motor, not sure if it is one piece or two, the LG the fork is part of the motor, not sure about GE..might be two seperate parts.

ok let me ask you a question. is there an ice maker you can buy to fit a hotpoint refrigerator? i took the back thing apart but can't get some of the pieces to fit back now. i may have even broken off a plastic pieace. i can still make ice, but it wont' come down the shoot for now. i may just have some nice professional come install a new one if they make one that fits an 8 year old hotpoint.
