please help

my cousing oven is dead, key pad only shows clock, trying to push any other key doesnt work, pushing starts and off only beeps but do nothing

top burners are working fine

only oven doesnt work because the key pad feels like lock up

but i tried the 5 sec press starts, nothing

like i said pressing any key, doesnt do anything only starts and off will beep once

that is all

any thing i should be checking?

Whirlpool Gold Oven ( only 1 year old, came with the appartment)

model number : GW395LEPB00

SERIAL NUMBER : SX0215704

thanks in advance for help

i have good knowledge of repairing ( i am mechanic)

but just need help for where to start

I would start by looking for the tech sheet. Usually it's in a plastic pouch on the back panel, or around the bottom drawer area. You may have to search a bit, they can hide them pretty good.

I would want to see it yours has a "child lock" feature that may have become engaged.

yeah i was thinking of the panel lock

but on the manual says that you can lock or unlock the panel with pushing the start 5 second

but it does nothing

only beep once

Check to make sure that all connections are tight and free of corrosion due to

moisture, dust etc., on the electronic control.  If your model has a keypad ribbon

connected to the clock make sure it has no kinks of sharp bends or other signs of

damage.  You can also try and unplug the unit for 5 minutes or so and see if that wil

reset the control.

thanks for all the advice

but lately the owner is saying that some key started to work

and showed F0 E2

or if i remember it is shorted key pad

so that means that if i just change the key pad it might work?

another question is if i change it

would i have to reprogram the whole thing?

or only if i change the module or controler?
