There must be something in the air..... Minus the "bras" I did exactly the same thing as Cheri. MODEL Number 911-4742594.  Lock light is flashing and the lock mechanism is deployed: door unable to close as a result. Please advise. Many Thanks!  Kevin - Durham,NC

PROBLEM SOLVED...:D If anyone else has this problem (w/Kenmore 911-47425)  after you cancel the self-clean cycle, just press and hold the light switch; the "locking mechanism" resets itself and then the door will close. ( hopefully ) you won't have to open up the panel and disconnect the "locking arm" as I did...only to watch it "reset" when I closed the door...ugh.

Peace, Kevin

THIS SERVICE POINTER APPLIES TO THE FOLLOWING BRANDS: Whirlpool and KitchenAid:

4322495

December, 1998

ALL WHIRLPOOL FREESTANDING

ELECTRIC AND GAS RANGES

with Motorized Self-Clean Door

Latch Mechanism

(STARTING WITH CODE DATE RH20)

CAUSE:

COMPLAINT:

Cannot close the oven door completely because the selfclean

latch mechanism interferes with it.

When the self-clean cycle is selected, the motor will take

about 6 seconds to completely lock the door. If a customer

pulls the door open before the latch arm can lock

it, the latch mechanism will be extended and interfere

with closing the door. After 60 seconds the self-clean cycle

will terminate and an error code (E0 F5) will appear.

CORRECTION:

Follow the instructions to unlock the latch and properly

close the door:

l Press CANCEL to erase the error code.

l Depress and hold down the DOOR LIGHT SWITCH

plunger (located on the front frame of the oven).

l Press CLEAN (not START). Latch will unlock in about

6 seconds

The service pointer from Whirlpool... :)   Pegi

Sure would be nice to have the model number so we can see who made this for Sears.

This is a Whirlpool range, the tech sheet did not give any codes or diagnostics, this is all I have been able to find but is not for the Y line, but since this is a Kenmore badged unit with a Sears model number have no way to know if this pertains to your range or not. Need to get to your tech sheet that is locked inside of your range somewhere...:?

Analog to Digital Failure

Disconnect for 30 seconds - if display re-appears - replace control

Thank's anyway.

I have another question. By "replace controls" does this mean the circuit board with the buttons?

The exact quote is "replace control" -- singular, not plural.

And yes.
