The DISHWASHER has been possessed by at least one DEMON !! (see attach.) First, I checked across the terminals of the Drain Pump Motor with my Ohm meter. Reading was about 38 Ohms. I said, "Hmm". Next, I did the "test power input" maneuver on the Drain Pump Motor terminals. 117 VAC into the motor with a made up power lead and an extension cord. The motor said, "HUMMM". Then I said, "Hmmm" again. OK, let's see why it's doing that instead of going "Whirrrrrr". I opened up the pump. First off, the intake port. Check valve flapper looks nice. Next, twist open the impeller case. YAAAAAHHH !! There is a demon trapped under the impeller and it has stalled the motor completely. After I removed the creature, I showed it to my wife. She says it looks like one of those thingees that are put on garments when they are packaged at the garment making factory. She is probably right as the little !#!*&##!! has a tattoo that spells "TEXPAK" (textile pack, Texas Packaging, Tex from Pakistan ???) Anyhow, the pump impeller doesn't seem to have suffered anything more than a little loss of pride, so I put it back together (minus the demon). After I had the pump back together, I re-checked the resistance across the motor terminals. It dropped to about 29 Ohms. The permanent magnets on the rotor shaft must have been stopped and locked at a point where their influence on the field windings was resulting in a higher Ohm reading. Either that or there was just enough of a "skin of resistance" when I took the first reading. Anybody want to comment on this? (not important to the job but inquiring mind wants to know) Many thanks and kudoes to all contributors to this happy ending. One final question: Just HOW did that little demon piece of plastic get past the screens in the first place?Attachment: IMG_0632-GIF.gif (Downloaded 29 times)
