The 2 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher (model #KUDI01IBL2) which was once very quiet has recently gotten very noisy. I opened it up from the inside and have checked the masticator screen and it is clear. The chopper arm also moves freely. I've looked at a schematic drawning and see that there is a second screen located inside. How do you get to the second screen the check it? If I can'r rule out the screens, I'm thinking that the motor/pump assembly is most likely the culprit. Does the machine have to be pulled out from the counter and replace this part from below? If not, does the white pin located at about 2:00 have anything to do with the removal?

If you've cleared out down to the mascerator screen and you still have the noise, then there could be something caught in the pump (press the collar tab and turn to remove) or the motor is shot. The entire motor/pump assembly is replaced from inside and underneath the dishwasher-- no need to remove it from the counter. Parts: http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&P=51
