How to I get the range door open on my Maytag electric slide-in range

Model No. MES5570AAW

I also getting a F1 error message

You'll have to get at this one from the top.  You've got the electric door lock located right in the center.

F1 is either a bad ERC or a bad sensor.  It's easy enough to test the sensor so you awwta do that.  If it's bad, then you know you the cause for the F1 code. 

The door lock failure is something else and you should replace the motorized latch assembly.
