As long as the unit sparks and the pilot lights, your switch, igniter and 99.9% of the time your tstat is fine as long as the flame is large enough to engulf the thermocouple (we will not know on the tstat until we get it to light and see if it cycles off at the correct temp) The pilot should be engulfing the thermocouple. This is the sensing bulb for your safety valve, it must be completely engulfed by the flame. If it is, and you do not get any gas through it, your safety valve is bad or the orifice is clogged with dirt or some other foreign matter. If it is not being completely engulfed, you could have a bad pilot (corroded or partially blocked), or possibly some one accidentally turned the pilot adjustment screw on your tstat, possibly while cleaning it. The adjustment screw is located on your tstat. It usually states, LP, OFF, Nat. You want it pointed toward the type of gas you are operating on. If it is turned slightly toward the off, it might not allow enough gas to your pilot to sufficiently heat your thermocouple. Let us know what you found.
