The oven flame is unsteady if using the oven just by itself. You can hear it turn on and off frequently and it heats up very slowly. However, if you turn on a range top burner or two the oven flame becomes stronger and no longer fluctuates. When it fluctuates, the sound is kinda like 'floup, floup, floup." Sorry for the imprecise sounds.. AND every once in awhile, when you first turn the oven on, the flame is delayed and when it finally sparks (which is a tad longer than the normal start up time for this oven) you get a nice WOOM as the gas ignites... kinda worried that i might lose the lower leg hair around my ankles if this continues... I am not if fear of dismantling this beastie, as it is not put together in a fashion that is easy to disassemble. Last fall I replaced the door hinge holders and that was a major disassembly to get to those babies out and back in. Almost seems like the oven was designed to allow a on-site tech to spend a nice half of a day moving sheet metal...

Dennnis, Thanks for your question. It was ok. It replaced a low powered GE Profile gas range. What is strange is that if you try the oven by itself, it does not do good. BUT if you turn on a top burner, presto, it works, but much slower. A store employee who know thermador a wee bit suggested that the gas regulator might be bad, but they were not familiar with this old of a model (2000 or so).

Only way to know for sure is to measure the pressure coming out of the regulator as you operate the stove burner:![]() Thermador PRG304US Gas Pressure Regulator by Zenzoidman, on Flickr
