Think its around 12 amps and the 810 Vs. The 410 is the horse power 1/4 to 1/8. I'll double check when I get to work. A hardstart should be your last resort though

I'll double check when I get to work. last resort...? how about as an option for the client who doesnt really want to buy a new fridge or cant really afford a new fridge now ? the question is which one should i be using ... im thinking that it should be the 410 . my biggest concern is on fridges that have adc and if the electrical circuits will spike and fry the components or possibly the gold etchings and or solder joints  tia

What is the problem?? the compressor failing??.......An average compressor, in domestic use, draws about 12 amps at start........... I have never heard of the starting current draw 'spike ' the rest of the system, would not say it could not happen ( a bad neutral line ) ............ IF the compressor will not start on the O.E.M. start package...I would use the Supco P/N 810 good for 1/12 H.P. up to 1/5 H.P. comp..... add your run cap as needed.............

i guess im trying to figure out why an adc board fried a circut , the customer said that the lights had dimmed along with a possible power surge i suggested they add a surge protector to the line , but they didnt and after we replaced the board , ( and i changed out the supco back to an oem set up) 2 days later the compressor went out , the customer couldnt understand why only his refrigerator was affected by so called power surge or brown out ( as a note the wall and possibly the line in all butts up to the garage workshop on a farm , i suspect that the issue may be that the line in also supplies power out in the shop and the surges or brown outs are becuase of someone working in the garage ) anyways .another note , i replaced the compressor on the third trip ,(3 days later another service call)i told the customer three different service calls to put surge protector on the line all three calls he failed to do so , so i told him there was nothing more i could do as he fails to follow my advice and i cannot speak for the wiring of his home/shop ... cant please all of the people ... especially if they dont listen ... im just sayin.... tia Last edited on Tue Nov 16th, 2010 07:35 pm by ddazzle007 |

When dealing with electrical surges you can never tell the path they will take. Its not that uncommon for just one thing to be affected by a surge, I see it quite often. The ADC wouldn't have fried anything, more than likely the frige got hit with 240 and the ADC and compressor were both toasted. If the new compressor is bad after just replacing there has to be a power problem in that garage. Have you checked voltage?

at this point im cutting it loose . havent been paid and the guy seems to believe im the responsible one , its turning ugly and i bent over backward for these people , just wanted get other opinion about the spike situation thanks ddazzle007
