Hi-- Love the forum. Especially the bday wishes I receive every year  OK, I did find and read this thread: Jennair WM30460W F7 after new clock install I have a Jenn-air JDS8850ACS dual fuel slide in range. It's been throwin a fit these last few days esp. when hot. I get error code F1-8. And meat probe warnings. And "Standard proofing" message in the readout. Clock is fine, buttons appear fine on the front keypad. From what i've read, i need either or both a new front keypad unit and/or a control unit. Thoughts? Can I order that here? And, for a 2 thumbs kinda guy, is this something i can just unscrew and replace or do I need a Obi Wan's (technicians) help? Here's the thing that really spooks me...the failure mode of the range is to turn the oven ON?!?!?! yeah...oven is off, it starts beeping and flashing words, F1-8, meat probe, etc. And then...it turns ON the oven? What if we were not home? Seems to me the failure mode should be oven OFF NOT ON! Please help! (range has some stainless steel and the control panel on the front where the keypad is along with the knobs for the burners is black. top of range is black) thanks kelly

F1-8 Shorted key (pad) in membrane switch. you could try disconnecting the TouchPad .. that would result in a F1-7 Membrane disconnected. but should prevent the Oven from turning ON. Control Panel 1. Remove power from unit. 2. Remove burner switch control knobs. 3. Open oven door and remove screws securing control panel. 4. Remove screws located on the right and left sides of the control panel. 5. Grasp control panel on the far left and right sides and gently pull the control panel out and down. NOTE: Gently pull control panel out and down. 6. Remove infinite switch control knobs, infinite switches, indicator lights, rocker switches, and electronic control/clock (as necessary) and transfer to the new control panel. 7. Reverse procedure to reinstall control panel. Electronic Control 1. Remove control panel, see “Control Panel” procedure, steps 1 through 5. 2. Remove screws securing electronic control bracket to control panel. 3. Label and disconnect terminal wiring from electronic control. 4. Reverse procedure to reinstall electronic control.

Thanks! Sounds like I can easily replace the control panel and electronic control unit. Given it's the error code for the control panel (keypad) that likely means I only need one of those and NOT a ECU too, yes? Suggested place to order from? again thanks kelly
