Unit stopped making ice. It also became a lot, lot quiter. I'm assuming a motor (or something that sounds like a motor) is out. Everything else seems to be functioning. Temps in fresh food and freezer sections are okay. I ran the self diagnostics test and some individual tests and all came back okay. Except the "damper motor" result is undetermined as I don't understand how to view the door opening and closing, and I can't hear it. Any thoughts?

Need an accurate temperature measurement in the freezer. You can run a manual harvest cycle on the icemaker by turning it off and back on. Right after you turn it on, do this:
While it's doing that, measure for 120vac at the icemaker water inlet valve in the back of the refrigerator. Should have voltage on the valve for 5.1 seconds during the harvest cycle.

How do I get an accurate temp measurement? Where is the power switch for the icemaker? Where and what is the "feeler arm"? Is the "Service Diagnostic Test Mode" you refer to different than the test mode you enter by pushing the four temp control buttons located in the fresh food section, simultaneously? do you have any relevant diagrams? thanks

You can get a temp. Reading by placing a thermometer in the freezer section. The freezer must be 15 F. Or colder for the icemaker to work. The diagnostics previously described by the Samurai refers to the icemaker only...not to be confused with the units diagnostice that you are referring to. The feeler arm is the "paddle" on the side of the icemaker that shuts off ice production once the bucket is full.

Do you have access to a guide that will tell me what kind of results (and whereto view them) to expect from running the icemaker diags? Am I able to get to the "paddle" without removing anything in the frozen section? Is it just located behind the ice tray, once removed? A pic or something would be very helpful. Thanks very much.

No. I see no switches of any kind in my icemaker. Nothing on the tray-front itself and nothing behind the tray when removed.

Could you please elaborate on a previous statement/post: The service mode is entered by pushing the feeler arm from the “out” position to the “in” position and back again 3 times and only 3 times within 15 seconds. Where is the "feeler arm" and what should I expect from the diags? thanks

my icemaker is very similar. mine has a "switch" and an led (currently green-lit) to the left of the switch. Okay - are you serious about pushing the "feeler arm" back and forth three times to get into diags mode after cycling power? Nothing seems to happen. Any thoughts? There was a block of ice frozen to the bottom of the paddle, seemingly preventing it from moving. I removed the ice, cycled the power on the icemaker and cycled the power on the whole unit itself. Now, about those icemaker diags, anyone know what's supposed to happen??

A little activity on the post's subject at http://www.applianceguru.com/forum19/28530.html that i wanted to post here in the original in an effort to possibly get more users involved. Can someone offer more troubleshooting tips? thanks

Between your two topics and all the info contained therein, what else can we possibly tell you? At some point, we can no longer lead you to the stream, you must drink. It is time for you to snatch the pebble from the hand. And why do you have two topics going for the same problem? Perhaps that's part of your confusion? It certainly does not help us to help you!

I have two topics because the second was started in the service manuals request link . . . which I did, and subsequently received via PM as a result of that post from RegUS_Patoff. Another user (or moderator) chose to reply on the subject through that post, not my choice and not part of my request there. I have drunk, am drinking and snatching every morsel thrown my way. If there is no more information to share then the answer must be, "Geez I don't know". Or "get another icemaker" perhaps from our sister site RC. But by all means don't lead me "close" to the stream knowing where it is all along only to tell me "might be north or south from here, you choose." thanks

Ok, but you must agree to stop asking if we're "serious" about the procedures and instructions we give you.

RegUS_Patoff's last reply was to see if there was ice in the icemaker. I don't know how to check that. Do I need to take it out or apart?

Reach in and feel with your fingers. Or you can use and extendible mechanic's mirror and a flashlight.
