Model # ET1MHKXMQ00 Manufacturing date 2003

I have a problem with the drain hole in this thing getting clogged with ice. the fridge is level, it is only about half full and it is not set to the coldest setting. About every three months, water starts dripping into the fridge from the freezer above, via the vent hole in the top back of the fridge. When I then open the freezer, there is a layer of ice on the bottom. I have to to empty the freezer, pull off the back panel which reveals the coils and a layer of ice below that - and the clogged drain hole. i then pour hot water in the drain hole until it clears. Then remove all of the ice and put the thing back together.

Anything I am doing wrong?

It hangs/wraps around the Defrost Heater and hangs into the Drain Hole to keep it from freezing

I read the directions, but it says to wrap around the defrost heater. I read through my manual for this fridge and is doesn't mention the heater. this is a manual defrost fridge.
Again $10 isn't much, but I don't see how this thing will work in my fridge

the model number you posted is for a frost free fridge

does this unit have a seperate fridge and freezer door?

does it have a fan in the freezer?

a manual defrost fridge can't constantly drip water and keep food frozen at the same time, i think you are incorrect as to this being manual defrost, and this part will indeed install into your fridge and fix the dripping

from the ET1MHKXMQ00 User Manual:

"Both the refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically."

Defrost Heater # 4

yes is has seperate doors and yes the freezer has a fan and yes it does constantly drip water and keep things frozen. As you can see I know nothing about fridges.
i read through the manual a couldn't find the word "defrost" in there anywhere so I assumed it was a manual one.  It's our secondary fridge and we bought it six years ago so i forgot the details.

thanks for your help and patience! i will buy the fixer device.

I have another question for another fridge, but I will post it in another thread
