O.K. I'm trying this again....

i got a call two days ago on this french door Jenn Air. I personally hadnt talked with the customer so all I was told was that it was freezing everything in the fridge compartment and that she couldnt find the model #. So when I get there, She tells me that she has had it turned off for two days due to everything freezing, so now I cant SEE anything (2nd strike).
I turn it on, start taking things apart and looking for anything obvious (fans working, Ice build up, blockages). I see nothing. but I DID find the model number on the back of the unit (which was pushed into an enclosure). So not seeing anything, I told her to run it for 2days and I will come back (today), to see it in operation.

I NEED GUIDENCE!!!!!! any info on this unit? I did not open the back or kickplate so I didnt get any tech sheet (Doohhhh!!!). And She had no paperwork as the unit was donated to them a year ago.

So Question... WUT WOULD MAKE THIS UNIT FREEZE LIKE THAT????
WUT should I be looking for????

HEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP????? I've got 2.5 hours to "SHINE":barbell:

first i would call before going to make sure it is still freezing in the fresh food

something as simple as a door left open could cause the damper to build ice and freeze open, now that its thawed the ice would be gone and unit working properly

thats all i've got for you for now as i cant access the cursed whirlpool site anymore for tech info

There's a service bulletin out on this:

custoMer concern:
Refrigerator compartment temperature too cold.
cause:
Ice maker is not connected to water and the ice maker on/off switch is in the on position. Even though no water is supplied, the Ice maker continues to try to make ice which causes the Ice compartment temperature to remain at 15° F (-10° C). Over a long period of time combined with minimal entry into the refrigerator compartment, temperatures may gradually drop below the set temperature in the refrigerator compartment.

Hellooooooooooo.....fellow appliantologists.........

I felt the need to finish wut I started....

I made my appointment on Sat. the 13th( not friday- [hee-hee]), I went up to THE BEAST aforementioned... the Jenn air french door. I calmly flexed out my hands, one to the left of me and one to the right of me, just like they did in the old westerns... and for a minute there... I thought I heard some "high noon" music in the distant background. Slowly... caustiously but confidently... I reached for the beasts right arm as it was facing me with my left arm, and before it could realize it that dor was open, Yessssss... Wiiiiiiidde open. The beast was now exposed for all that it was and was now powerless to my bidding. I OWNED IT. And as it cowered under my control, I reached up to its Icy heart( aka the Ice bin), and noticed with the eyes of a now enlightened and empowered grasshopper ( thru the smarts of UUU guyzz) and Ahhhaaaaaa.... There it was b4 me.The CAUSE, The REASON, the AGONY of pain and worry for all it brought pain and anguish to.
Yes... the REASON it Itself was in pain for....... The ON SWITCH., and yes... it WAS...... on.
As swift as a swifter, as quik as uuuggghhhh...quik, I turned that motha' to the helpless and now hopeless position of OFF, closed that tragic beasts door and Never looked back. ( It took all of 1.5 minutes for the whole thing. Maybe 2.5 if U include the quik look- see- feel.. damper check). Yessss, the BEAST was now tamed, relieved even of its heavy burdenand strain and pain, and YESSSSSSS.... I shined. Shined as the sunny November California day that it was. ( Almost 80 degrees that day. ) ( and in NOVEMBER at that!!!!). BUT... as much as I COULD ( and did) take credit for that by the now relieved owners of THE BEAST... I know that I MUST give thanks and Credit to my Sensai and the 'OTHER' sensai's who gave me the insight, the knowledge, the wisdom, the strength and power and oh' ( and the service bulletin and tech sheets).... that saved the day and saved my "SHINE" ( also known as my ....). Having talked with them ( IT's Owners) today... NO FURTHER PROBLEMS!!!!!!! (yet)......

STAY TUNED............... (music playing. Fade to Black):clapping:
