 Jenn Air Refrig model # JS42SEDBDA Dead and defrosted.no lights on nada....

1 Power at the wall confirmed.
2. Power from cord to unit confirmed.
3. Completely defrosted and no lights on inside unit or on control board. Looked for burn marks on board and nada.

Please help... Looks from diagram the only culprit could be the display assembly #67001621

 The display board is powered by DC made by the DC power supply via the main control board. The DC power supply will shut down if there's a short circuit or excessive current draw somewhere in the system. Some troubleshooting tips:


Diagnosis to locate the excessive load is a trial and error process. The first step is to verify that the power supply is indeed capable of providing the needed voltages. With the power disconnected from the appliance (Main power switch off), unplug JP11. If the power supply resumes normal operation, you have verified that the power supply is capable of operation. Disconnect the main power.

Reinstall JP11 and unplug JP7 and JP9. Reinstate power. If the DC supply resumes normal operation you have eliminated the Main Control Board as the source of the excessive load on the power supply. Disconnect power and reinstall JP9. If the power supply continues normal operation you have eliminated the display as the source of the excessive load.

JP7 supplies power to the CZT modules, the dispenser, the electronic damper and both the evaporator and fresh food fans. Plugging this in will put you back where you had started. You will need to isolate the possible source of the excessive load to progress further. There are two options to progress with from here.

One method would be to disconnect each individual component from the harness and add them in one at a time. This would require considerable disassembly of the product and would not be an efficient method to isolate the failed component. The second method would involve resistance checks from JP7 itself. Checking for shorts off of the harness can be a quick process to determine what further actions are required. Remember that with JP7 disconnected, the DC ground is disconnected from these components so all resistance checks would need to be taken between two pins in the connector itself.

 Thank you and yes here is wiring schematic. Wow that is a lot of troubleshooting and may be a little out of realm to be honest It is in a cabin rental program up here and I will be heading back out on Monday. Going to try and get user manual somewhere also.Let me know if wiring schematic helps pinpoint anything to you. Hopefully I can get this thing fixed and send some more beer money.

 A luxury, built-in refrigerator in a cabin!? What kind of cabins are these? : bandanna:

The schematic is for you, I already have a copy. :)

Use the schematic and the info in my previous post to locate the pins on the control board to make your power supply tests.

 lol. Yes I service a lot of the "Luxury Cabins" up here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.Cabin rental companies are pretty much the only thing that this town has with all the industries gone. This particular cabin is 6500sq ft with Mountain views, 2 hot tubs and an outdoor bar. :)

 lol. Funny you say that. Most of the renters are what the local call "halfbacks" such as myself. Yankees that have migrated south usually to Fla and then make their way back north slightly to Atlanta, etc and rent these cabins in the Georgia mountains  :)

only info from service manual 16021730:

POWER SUPPLY DIAGNOSTIC

Check for line voltage inputs and outputs per label on top of the power supply.

1. LINE INPUT
• With main power switch ON check for line input on input terminal.

2. DC OUTPUT
• Check for +12VDC and +26VDC output on output terminal.
• Check for +12VDC on main control terminals JP11 -3,2
• Check for +26VDC on main control terminals JP11 -3, 1
• If voltage is "Pulsing" in a repetitious manner there is probably an overload condition on the output side of the power supply.

Remove JP7

If "Pulsing" persists test JP7 harness for short circuits (JP7-15, & JP7-15, 16)

If "Pulsing" stops remove JP11 .

If "Pulsing" persists replace power supply.

If "Pulsing" stops replace main control.

 This particular cabin is $200 a night but some up here are $600 night. Talking to renters upon my repairs it does make sense though. A few couples/families get together for a weekend in a 4-6 br cabin and it actually works out cheaper than renting hotels, dinners, etc somewhere else. Plus the mountain views and air are really nice. Thank you for the service input. Heading back out Monday with the step ladder :)

 I tried all of these steps(j11, j7,j9 etc) and nothing. No pulsing or anything. I used my "power wand"... Lol. Save the jokes. Used the wand to trace electricity from power cord to "power board ? according to parts drawing to the next board in middle to the next board on far left if standing in front of unit. However when using the "power wand or stick" I have no power going to the digital display wires in refrig??? I call Whirlpool/Jenn air for the customer and they said @ least a week for someone to come out. I was willing to waive my svc call just to watch factory svc guy diagnosis this P>O>S>

edit. 2 of these boards have fuses on them(1 board actually has 2 fuses) and all 3 fuses check out fine. I also noticed the clocks were blinking in house thus a power outage and wondering if we have a lightning strike issue. I read 2 google posts where all 3 boards were fried but I prefer to not be a guessing parts monkey :)
