Refrig was warming up,compressor not running, ckd ohms of compressor,common=7 ohms,run=10 ohms,start=11 ohms.replaced start relay, plugged in refrig.,measured 4 amps starting which dropped to 1 amp running, good. unplugged refrig, put wire retainer on relay, plugged refrig back in and got click/hum and compressor pulled 9 amps and didn't drop to running amps, compressor didn't run.Could I have caused some back pressure by plugging in the refrig too soon after stopping it(1 min). Now the compressor won't run again. Retired and trying to fix it myself.

If you plug the refrigerator back in too soon, the pressures haven't had enough time to equalize through the cap tube so the compressor is trying to start into a big-azz head pressure, draws boo-coo amps, and kicks the thermal overload. Is the compressor still tripping out?

Yesterday I bypassed the relay and tried to energize the compressor with a test wire setup. The compressor did not seem to run and the start current was 10amps and stayed there.Right after that we hooked up the relay again and tried to start compressor and it pulled 9 amps and didn't drop.I tested the compressor start and run ohmage and they looked good. What would you recommend next.etsuch

You're doing the forum stuff right-- I'm just a little slow on the draw, been ate up with serve problems and a big migration of Fixitnow.com that I was able to do with minimal downtime, thank you very much. Sounds like your compressor done bit the big red one, honcho. You're going shopping for a new fridge. Tell them you're a Grasshopper at Applianceguru.com and enjoy a discount!
