I have this Whirlpool Refrigerator. The Icemaker continues to make the ice cubes even when the bin is full or even when the switch on the control panel is turned off. The control panel is the new style (AP3137510).

Your help would be appreciated.

Run through some troubleshooting on the optics system so we can eliminate that as a suspect==> http://fixitnow.com/wp/2010/06/29/troubleshooting-icemakers-with-the-fancy-optical-controls/

I have gone thru the flow chart. I don't see any LED light up or blink. However, the thing is that with the manual shutoff switch in the off position, the ice maker continues to make the cubes. If I completely remove the ICE MAKER CONTROL module, then ofcourse the ice maker stops making ice cubes.

Keep in mind that the function of the optics system is simply to start and stop the icemaker. Other than that, it doesn't affect the operation of the icemaker. There's nothing new or special about the icemaker itself––it works the same way as the good old Whirlpool built modular icemaker that we've all come to know and love.

If you're not seeing the blinking red light then that's prima facie evidence that the emitter board is bad and you need to replace the optics boards in the fridge. Here's the part link for the emitter and receiver icemaker control boards==> http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Ice-Level-Control-Board/921526
